Born in 2012, the rejuvenated Langsett Cycles Race Team was born following a conversation between Jamie Burgan and Andrew Elston. Andy explained that he wanted to restart the team and Jamie, following the withdrawal of his previous sponsor was looking for a new team. The rest is history, Andy appointed Jamie as the team manager and he set about building a team of riders. In the mean time, Andy was busy recruiting the teams sponsors and sorting out a great package for the riders.

In a recent interview for the Sixer magazine, Andy Elston had this to say about the team, Another piece of history that the shop is remembered for is the Langsett Cycles Road Race, which ran from 1951-1967. From this, the Langsett Cycle Team was established. Fast-forward 40 years and this team was to breed a world champion. Steve Peat, professional downhill mountain biker, raced for the Langsett Team and was crowned UCI Downhill World Champion in 2009 and has been World Cup Champion on three occasions as well as winning numerous other events in his illustrious career. Unfortunately the Langsett Cycle Team was disbanded in the mid 1990s and has not existed since… until now. As part of reconnecting Langsett Cycles with its history, Andrew plans to resurrect the old team: “It’s exciting times. The plans have all been signed off and we should be competing in time for the start of the next cycle season in April. We’ve got a team of five including experienced and young riders and who knows, the next Steve Peat could be among them.”
